Standard Services

iFrench Translations encourage our translators to “distance” themselves from the original text as much as possible, without compromising the meaning of the text. The syntax and structure of the target language is of utmost importance. Translators are not expected to blindly follow the syntax and structure of the source language. The translation should feel authentic and not read like a translation. If our translator is not sure how far he/she is allowed to “stray” from the original text, we collaborate with our clients through the use of a query log.

Three Step Process

The main service iFrench Translations offers is our T.E.P. (Translation, Editing, Proofreading) procedure. Unlike many multilingual agencies, we are applying a genuine three steps method with multiple experts working on each file

Step 1: TRANSLATION

The translator translates the file using a Computer Assisted Tool (CAT). He/She will use all the references made available (including preexisting translation memory, glossary, style-guide etc.) and rigorously follows directions.

Step 2: EDITING

The reviewer works on the file using the same tool. He/She checks for consistency of tone and style, completeness, appropriate localization messaging, correct use of terminology, flow, and style guidelines.

Step 3: PROOFREADING

The proofreader accomplishes the following:

  1. Spell check, punctuation check, discrepancies between chosen terms.
  2. Check of document’s visual aspects and harmonization of its format.
  3. Integrity check: folder architecture and file count, preparation of client deliverables (bilingual files, clean files, QA sheets, etc.)
