
iFrench Translations encourage our translators to “distance” themselves from the original text as much as possible, without compromising the meaning of the text. The syntax and structure of the target language is of utmost importance. Translators are not expected to blindly follow the syntax and structure of the source language. The translation should feel authentic and not read like a translation. If our translator is not sure how far he/she is allowed to “stray” from the original text, we collaborate with our clients through the use of a query log.
The main service iFrench Translations offers is our T.E.P. (Translation, Editing, Proofreading) procedure. Unlike many multilingual agencies, we are applying a genuine three steps method with multiple experts working on each file
The translator translates the file using a Computer Assisted Tool (CAT). He/She will use all the references made available (including preexisting translation memory, glossary, style-guide etc.) and rigorously follows directions.
The reviewer works on the file using the same tool. He/She checks for consistency of tone and style, completeness, appropriate localization messaging, correct use of terminology, flow, and style guidelines.
